Mirza Kopelman is new to the Bay Area, having relocated with his family to Berkeley in April of this year. He has spent the last 8 years devoted to education and enriching the lives of children first through after school and summer programming, as an elementary music teacher in New York City and lastly as the director of a music performance and teaching business called Slap Tone Bass Productions in Los Angeles. As an educator he has worked with thousands of students over his career and strongly believes that every child has gifts that can be realized with the proper attention to individual needs and through use of programs that are thoughtful and dynamic. As a Director he has overseen dozens of successful programs and plans to continue his hard work here at EB, by implementing new and exciting afterschool programs, offering new and improved lunch and recess services and activities, and creating a new summer program. Mirza has a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from SUNY Purchase New York and is presently working towards his Masters Degree in Education. Mirza’s son Alijah, 7, attends EB and is currently in 2nd grade. |
