WELCOME TO EB
Welcome and “Bienvenue” to Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley, the oldest bilingual school in the East Bay. For over thirty years, EB has provided a bilingual, international environment where children from preschool through eighth grade are cared for, stimulated, and challenged. Since we first opened our doors in 1977, enrollment has grown from 55 students to 525, and the number of languages we offer has increased from two to five (English, French, Spanish, Mandarin, and Latin).
We now have a full generation of graduates, and can look back with pride on the accomplishments of our alumni. Our graduates go on to top high schools and colleges, and at last count they had lived, worked, and studied in 47 countries worldwide. The value of an EB education can be seen not only in these easily quantifiable accomplishments, but also in our students’ lifelong sense of exploration, their confidence, and their ability to feel at ease in any environment.
In addition to our academic strengths, we offer families a strong sense of community. The closely-knit “family” of the school is vital in creating a nurturing environment for our children. EB’s international atmosphere and inclusiveness come through in events that celebrate the wonderfully varied backgrounds of our students. EB prepares our children to become full citizens in our increasingly complex world and to benefit from the richness that results from diversity.
We hope to see you and your family at EB soon.
