SUPPORT PROGRAMS

In addition to first-rate faculty, EB offers a wide range of support services to help our diverse group of learners thrive academically and socially.

Learning Specialist

Ron Malek, our learning specialist, evaluates children for learning differences and works with children who have been diagnosed with learning differences to strengthen their reading skill, math and study skills. He acts as an advocate for children having academic or behavioral difficulties and provides year-to-year follow-through for their classroom teachers. He also consults with parents who wish to discuss concerns about their child’s learning profile. He holds a B.A. in Psychology and a M.A. in Special Education.

ESL

Amanda Fox works with students in grades K - 8 who need support in English as a Second Language. Students may have ESL once a week or every day, depending on their needs, and work on vocabulary, oral fluency, listening comprehension, reading, writing, and phonemic awareness. The nature of the program allows each student to receive targeted, individualized instruction to help them learn English for both academic and social needs. Amanda holds an M.A. in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). She speaks French and Portuguese.

Soutien

Nadine Morrisette, who also teaches third grade, offers individual support for Lower School students whose level of proficiency in French is affecting their progress in their classes. Valérie Bishop offers soutien at the Middle School.

Psychologist

Besty Cory has served as the school psychologist since 2007. She offers counseling on the many issues, big and small, that children face, and does short-term work with families as well. Depending on their needs, children may work individually or in groups.

Middle School Counseling and High School placement advising

Douglas Gostlin, the Lower and Middle School Guidance Counselor and the High School Placement Counselor, is available for drop-in counseling. He also works with students to help them identify their areas of greatest interest and choose a high school where they will thrive. He is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a credentialed school counselor. Douglas offers individual, educational, academic and group counseling. He also consults with parents in regard to questions and/or concerns about their child’s social and emotional development.
